Premise

Automat /ˈôdəˌmat/ noun a cafeteria in which food and drink were obtained from vending machines.

Automat is a an AU-focused meme community. A select number of memes are served up every day, chosen by the mods to be played from at your hearts content. Each day of the week has a different theme, and 1-2 memes will be posted each day. Unless a meme proves to be exceptionally popular, there will be long delays between repeats. We encourage you to to explore memes that have been already posted! Find new people, link your friends, boost last week's posts. Expiration dates are lengthy around here! The memes here will always been simple and straight forward. A simple concept and a very brief set up. Always open to interpret as your heart desires. There will never be RNGs or mandatory shipping involved here. We encourage you to drop in a bit of your ideas in your top level, but blanks are always welcome as well. Theme Days Monday: Monsters and Creatures -- Everything from vampires to robots to angels! Anything that isn't quite human (or a human in a world of monsters!) Tuesday: Time Periods -- Be it the 1950s, the old west, or medieval knights! A different time for our history. Wednesday: Canons -- Who HASN'T considered what Hogwarts house their character would be in, or what their Pokemon team would be? Thursday: Locations and Jobs -- Everyone loves a good coffee shop AU, but there's also playing detective or maybe you're spending the night in a haunted house. Friday: Free-for-All -- Anything that doesn't go elsewhere goes here. You may also see AU-adjacent memes. Cause everyone ends up at Denny's at some point. Saturday: Rotating Theme (current: Black Mirror) -- Do you prefer San Junipero or Striking Vipers for your immersive experience? Sunday: Genres -- Superheroes to gothic horror to every fun cliche that comes with Steampunk. Please remember, as this is an open community that anyone can comment to, we cannot enforce everything. However, if there is trouble please report your concerns accordingly. We are only capable of handling issues that happen within the community, or at least are directly related to the Automat community.
